President’s Message

Welcome to our 99th Tullamore Show.

This year began on a positive note for the Tullamore Show, with all positions being filled on our committee. This is often not an easy task, so I would personally like to thank all our 2023 committee members for the dedication to the show and their community. It is gratifying to work alongside such a dedicated and committed group of volunteers.

The committee has been working extremely hard over the past few months to make today happen. Tasks including preparing and maintaining the grounds, securing sponsors, drafting and finalising our Show Schedule, accepting and organising entries and many more behind the scenes jobs have created today’s success. Our committee has put in a lot of hard work to be where we are today.

Tullamore Show is a not-for-profit organisation and we rely on your membership and sponsorships to keep our show going year after year. I would like to thank our regular sponsors who kindly contribute to the show every year and it is equally great, to see so many new sponsors this year. We look forward to working with all our sponsors this year and in the years to come.

This year the committee decided to have our Junior Judging on the Friday to allow more time for the Cattle Judging and Farmers Challenge on Show Day. It is a high priority of ours, to ensure the younger members of our community, have the opportunity to participate in all aspects of our show.

Earlier in the year, the committee awarded Mr Ron Martin, Honorary Life Membership, in recognition for all his hard work over the years. This presentation was a personal privilege of mine, as Ron served on the Tullamore Show Committee for many years with my grandfather TJ McMahon.

The unwavering support from previous committee members across many years is hugely appreciated. They are always willing to help, offer advice and it is reassuring for the new committee moving forward.

I would like to thank Bernadette Boneham and her daughter Colleen McAleese, for helping do a lot of work behind the scenes to ensure our show goes off smoothly. To Annette Perks and Monique Ferguson, thank you for all your hard work all year around. To Pete Dunn and Steve McMahon, thanks also for coming onboard. The committee is very fortunate to have such dedicated and passionate members.

To all our volunteers during the year, some as young as 12 to 16 years, thank you for showing dedicated community spirit. Mowing, spraying, maintenance on our buildings, setting up, packing up and Stewarding on Show Day, all with a smile. We could not do it without you all.

Wishing everyone a wonderful day at the show and a safe travel home.
